Excise registration requires submission of both existing and merging unit registrations with merger documents and liability undertaking.
A corporate reorganisation requires submission of both the existing registration certificate of the merging unit and the registration for the transferee/new unit, and an application for new registration supported by all merger-related documents together with an undertaking to the excise department accepting any liabilities of the merging unit. (AI Summary)

We are gruop of company , we will merger new unit at Ahmedabad ( loss making unit ) . What is the merger procedure under central excise , is we have to submit old registration certi and apply new ? Excise authority ask any further details etc. Pl. suggest .

In our view, you have to submit both registration ( existing and merger unit) and have to apply for New registration along with all the required documents.

The Application should support by all merger related document and an undertaking to be given to Excise department regarding the liability, if any pending with the merger unit.
