Surrender of Duplicate PAN

CHITRA RAGURAM
The tin Webpage says, to surrender a duplicate pan, fill up the application for Change (or) Modification in PAN and fill up Coloumn 10 alone. But the facilitation centers are not taking up these applications and they say we need to approach Income Tax Department. Please advice the procedure.
Guidance on Surrendering Duplicate PAN: Submit Application to Relevant Ward or Visit Income Tax Officer for Assistance. An individual inquired about the procedure for surrendering a duplicate PAN, noting that the official website advises filling out a specific application form. However, facilitation centers are not accepting these applications and are directing individuals to the Income Tax Department. A respondent advised sending the surrender application to the relevant ward or following the Income Tax Department's instructions by visiting the Income Tax Officer (ITO). (AI Summary)
