To create an user id for filing Returns Online, it is necessary to know our SURNAME as per Income Tax Database. It is also difficult to view our SURNAME by using the menu KNOW YOUR PAN in the income tax webpage, though we have the PAN card copy, since this asks for Surname, DOB, Fathers Name & Father's Father Name.
