Guidance on Filing ER-1 Excise Returns: Input Zero for Nil Returns, E-Filing Needed if Duty Exceeds 10 Lakhs A user inquired about filing ER-1 excise returns, including nil returns, and the necessary documentation. Two respondents advised that filing is straightforward if all required information is available. For nil returns, input zero in the relevant columns. If total duty exceeds 10 lakhs, filing must be done online. They suggested consulting a local expert if difficulties persist. Filing of ER-1 excise return is simple as long as you are having all the details and information required to be filled into the form. Whereas there is no activity, simply fill the nil value or 0 value in the relevant column and submit the same with the range office of the excise department. In case the payment of total duty is more than 10 lakhs, return is to be submitted online through aces.gov.in website. If you still face the difficulty in preparing the return, you may approach the local consultant for suitable help.

Filing of ER-1 Excise Return is not so difficult, please read the form carefully and fill the required details in the relevant column. Please check whether liability worked out in the initial pages tallies with the payments made. If not please once again verify the same and rectify the error. If you still face the difficulty, you may approach the local consultant or us for suitable help.
