Taxability of travelling expenses

velayutham panchatcharam

I am working in MNC. Somany expats are working in my company. As per work agreement an expat can go and come for home lease for every six months and travelling exp for the same, company will bear including wife and kids exp. Please clarify with law that travelling exp need to be included in that person's personal income tax.

Taxability of travelling expenses: company-paid home-leave travel presently not treated as employee income, pending valuation rule changes. Taxability of travelling expenses for employer-funded home-leave travel is questioned. The discussion records that employer-paid travel costs for expatriates and dependents are not presently treated as personal taxable income while the employer bears the expenditure, but that new valuation rules are expected after withdrawal of the Fringe Benefit Tax regime. New valuation rules after withdrawn of FBT are expected to come. But, as of now, there is no personal liability of such expat as long as such expenses is incurred by the company.
