NRI Taxpayer Faces Delays in Income Tax Refunds for 2006-2008; Considers RTI or Ombudsman Complaint for Resolution. An NRI taxpayer has been experiencing delays in receiving income tax refunds for the assessment years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, despite submitting the required TDS certificates to the Assessing Officer (AO). The taxpayer is seeking advice on whether to file a complaint with higher authorities due to the prolonged delay. One respondent suggests personally following up with the AO for a timely resolution, while another recommends approaching an ombudsman or filing an RTI application for assistance. (AI Summary)

It is comon that department is delaying the payment of refund. Though a complaint to higher authorities may help you but the best suitable option is follow up the matter personally with the AO and get the refund it you need it timely.

You can approach the ombudsman or you can file an application under RTI. I can help in both these forms of applications.
