Ensure Accurate Vehicle Numbers in Dispatch Records to Avoid Excise Department Allegations of Document Falsification. A user inquired whether it is their duty to verify the vehicle number when dispatching goods from their factory and which excise law mandates this. Two respondents advised that while not explicitly required by excise law, vigilance is crucial. Though not specifically provided in the excise law. But, you must be vigilant. Suppose the excise department put an allegation that you have not received any material but arranged fake documents, they would have strong evidence against you if vehicle number would mismatch. Therefore, merely a vigilance would prevent such type of risks. The purpose of putting details of vehicle to ensure that fake and bogus entries in excise records.

I agree with the view of Mr. Gupta that you should be vigilant enough to ensure that correct number of vehicle is mentioned in the Invoice or consignment note while dispatching the material from your factory premises.
