chaganti srinivas

We will starting manufacturer's depot's at various places. i need clarification on the following points. 1) We will be charging excise duty on the invoices issued from mfg point to our Depot, further depot will raise invoice on dealer with same price what we are charging after considering the discounts, which will be shown on the invoice - is this procedure is acceptable?. 2) is it necessary to register depot with central excise, where cenvat invoices are not issued from the depot to the dealer.

Depot Invoice Procedure Clarified: No Depot Registration Needed if Depot Sale Price Matches Factory Price and Buyer Waives Excise Invoice. A query was raised about the procedure for issuing invoices from a manufacturer's depot, specifically regarding the charging of excise duty and the necessity of registering the depot with central excise. The concern was whether invoices issued from the depot to dealers, reflecting the same price as from the manufacturing point after discounts, were acceptable. The response clarified that if the buyer does not require an excise invoice, depot registration is unnecessary. Additionally, as long as the depot sale price does not exceed the factory price on which excise duty is paid, the procedure is acceptable. (AI Summary)
