GST Exemption for Property Rental: No Registration Needed When Annual Income Below Rs. 20 Lakhs A property owner rented two shops to an electricity board for Rs. 14,000 monthly per shop. The discussion explores GST liability, with consensus that no GST registration is required since total annual rental income does not exceed Rs. 20 lakhs and there are no other taxable income sources. Voluntary registration remains an option if desired. (AI Summary)

Shri,

You are required to take registration if the value of taxable supply exceeds threshold limit i.e. Rs. 20 Lakhs, if there is not other taxable service or goods other than renting of immovable property, are supplied by you.

Thanks

Sir

No other income only  this 2 shop rent

This Shop in name of My Wife. I am working in private company as Commercial officer.

Then No need to take registration in that case. GST would not be applicable on rent charged to the tenants

If no other income and the rental income is not exceeding Rs. 20L, no GST registration required.

Though voulntary registration is permitted if you wish to take.
