dhould i file ITR

Krijon M

hi sir, i am getting 29000 per month in a govt. organization, my (only my) gpf came from 2019 to 2024 total amount nearly 8–9 lac, i am not coming under income tax slab and my same rank employees also not paying any income tax, only my gpf came after few years, other employees get yearly. Now i consult few people they telling if your money credited to ur bank account then do not do anything for taxaction,

but my department Clerks and accountants telling me to give 5k-10k we will consult Advocate otherwise we cease your account. you have to pay zero ITR. They are demending money from me. And also they are not giving my credentials that i should login and see my salary details.

What should i do? do i need to pay tax ?

Government Employee Questions Income Tax Return Need; Bribery Threats for Consultation; Interest on GPF Over 5 Lakh Taxable An individual working in a government organization is concerned about whether they need to file an income tax return. They earn 29,000 per month and have a General Provident Fund (GPF) amounting to 8-9 lakh, which was credited in a lump sum from 2019 to 2024. Colleagues in similar positions do not pay income tax. Department clerks and accountants are demanding a bribe to consult an advocate, threatening to cease the individual's account. A response suggests that income tax is applicable only on interest earned from contributions exceeding 5 lakh, implying the individual may not be liable for tax. (AI Summary)
