E Way bill

mk Jain

If expired the E way bill and 8 hours also passed then what we need to do for goods movement fo customer location.

MK

Expired E-way Bill: Generate New Bill, Notify Officer to Avoid Detention and Address Document Discrepancies. A user inquired about the procedure for moving goods when an E-way bill has expired and more than eight hours have passed. Responses suggested that if the vehicle is in transit, issuing a Delivery Challan (DC) and a new E-way bill might be necessary, although this is not legally correct. Another response advised generating a fresh E-way bill to avoid vehicle detention and recommended informing the jurisdictional officer about the delay to defend against any potential notices from the Department regarding discrepancies in documentation. Ideally in those cases one could consider issuing a DC and issuing another EWB. Though not legally correct but atleast there would be a document to show when caught in transit.

Mr. MK, I am guilty of not replying to your clarification in time as your issue was a time sensitive issue. Nevertheless, I agree with views of learned colleague Shilpi Ma'am that a fresh e-way bill maybe generated so that vehicle is not detained.

You may also take sufficient measures such as informing jurisdictional officer about the bona fides of the matter including the reason why goods could not be sent in time etc. to ensure that you can defend the same if Department issued any notice based on difference between e-way bill and GSTR-1/3B in future.
