E-way bill expiry: generate a fresh e-way bill or delivery challan to avoid detention and document bona fides.
Where an e-way bill expires while goods are in transit, practical steps include issuing a Delivery Challan and generating a fresh e-way bill to avoid detention and supply documentary evidence; additionally, inform the jurisdictional officer and retain supporting records to preserve a defence against future discrepancies between e-way bill data and statutory returns. (AI Summary)

If expired the E way bill and 8 hours also passed then what we need to do for goods movement fo customer location.

Ideally in those cases one could consider issuing a DC and issuing another EWB. Though not legally correct but atleast there would be a document to show when caught in transit.

Mr. MK, I am guilty of not replying to your clarification in time as your issue was a time sensitive issue. Nevertheless, I agree with views of learned colleague Shilpi Ma'am that a fresh e-way bill maybe generated so that vehicle is not detained.

You may also take sufficient measures such as informing jurisdictional officer about the bona fides of the matter including the reason why goods could not be sent in time etc. to ensure that you can defend the same if Department issued any notice based on difference between e-way bill and GSTR-1/3B in future.
