Before unloading goods returned back

S.C. WADHWA

Dear Expert,

When goods found unacceptable due to quality issue, full consignment or part. My query is how to returned these goods while mentioning on party invoice ' Rejected due to quality issue' or issue debit note or supplimentary invoice along with E-way bill. In this case we will get common input tax as goods used both in taxable as well as in exempted items but GST charged in debit note will have to pay in full. Please suggest the right procedure.

Clarification Sought on Returning Goods Due to Quality Issues Under GST: Delivery Challan or Debit Note? A query was raised regarding the correct procedure for returning goods due to quality issues under GST regulations. The issue involves whether to mention 'Rejected due to quality issue' on the invoice, issue a debit note, or use a supplementary invoice along with an e-way bill. One expert advised issuing a Delivery Challan and reversing the credit if it was initially availed, while another questioned how credit was taken if the goods were not unloaded or accounted for, suggesting no reversal is needed if no credit was taken originally.
