GST on Commission

Rajesh Kumar

Sir/Madam

If a government department purchases wheat , mustard and other agricultural products through authorized agents available in Anaj Mandi and pays the value of goods directly in the farmers account . In this process that government department pays commission to that agents.
My question is whether that commission agents are liable to GST on the amount received as commission?

Commission Agents Not Liable for GST on Commissions for Facilitating Agricultural Purchases, Confirmed by Circular and Corrigendum A query was raised about whether commission agents are liable to pay GST on commissions received for facilitating the purchase of agricultural products by a government department. It was clarified by two respondents that commission agents are not liable for GST on such commissions. The first respondent referenced a specific circular and corrigendum that exempts these services from GST. The second respondent confirmed that services provided by commission agents for buying and selling agricultural produce are exempt from GST. (AI Summary)
