EOU Inquiry: Reimporting Machinery for Repairs and Procurement Certificate for Service Charges Affects Export Obligations An individual from a 100% Export Oriented Unit (EOU) inquired about reimporting machinery sent abroad for repairs, questioning whether to obtain a procurement certificate for service charges or pay customs duty. The response advised that a procurement certificate could cover the service charges, as these are included in customs valuation for duty calculation. Consequently, the export obligation will increase proportionally due to the duty foregone by including service charges in customs valuation. It was also noted that maintaining a positive Net Foreign Exchange (NFE) is essential. (AI Summary)
