Eligibility to Claim Input Tax Credit on Bank Charges Under GST: Conditions and Requirements Explained, Sections 16 & 17 CGST Act. A forum participant inquired about the eligibility to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on bank charges under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework. Multiple replies confirmed that ITC can be claimed on bank charges if certain conditions are met, such as fulfilling requirements under Sections 16 and 17 of the CGST Act, 2017, ensuring the bank charges are related to business activities, and obtaining a valid invoice. Additionally, the GST Identification Number (GSTIN) should be on bank statements, and the credit must appear in the GSTR 2A. (AI Summary)

Bank charges incurred is in Course and furtherance of the business and the same is not in the blocked credit u/a 17(5). Hence, you can take credit provided your outward supply is taxable. It your outward supply is partly exempt and partly taxable then only proportionate credit is allowed.

Yes, having invoice copy on record is also essential to take credit. At the same time the credit should also get populated in your GSTR 2A.

Your GSTIN should be mentioned on the Bank Statements, Debit Advices as B2B.
