Gst on Incentives from Publication

GST on commission: incentives to news agencies treated as commission, subject to GST and allowing input tax credit.
Incentives paid by a publication to a news agency are treated as commission; the agency must recognise commission income and charge GST where its aggregate turnover exceeds the registration threshold. The publication pays commission inclusive of GST and may claim input tax credit as permitted by GST law. TDS on such commission payments is governed by the prevailing provisions and rates under the Income Tax Act. (AI Summary)

Sri Sethi's contention is correct. It is commission only. The news agency is to claim the commission and to charge GST if his turnover is exceeding the threshold limit. The publication is to pay commission with GST for which it can take input tax credit. The TDS is as per the prevalent rate in income tax act.
