DGFT-General Policy for Packing Material

Narendra Soni

Dear experts,

We need clarification on the below line mentioned in General Policy for Packing Material prescribed in 'Input-Output Norms' of DGFT. The packing material is used for packing of export items.

The line (para2) is 'The exporter shall account for the net content of the packing material minus the wastage allowed in the exports made'

Kindly clarify meaning of 'account for' word, whether to maintain proper record in internal books/register/sheets and submit the detail in excel statement attached with application at the time of redemption of advance authorisation.

Clarification Sought on Recording Packing Materials for Export Under DGFT Input-Output Norms; Documentation Required for FTP Schemes A participant in a discussion forum sought clarification on the requirement to 'account for' packing material in the context of export under DGFT's Input-Output Norms. The inquiry focused on whether maintaining records in internal books and submitting details in an excel statement is necessary for redemption of advance authorization. Responses confirmed that maintaining records is required under certain FTP schemes and that packing details must be shown in export documents. The participant further questioned if net contents of raw materials used in packing must be documented, with responses affirming this requirement, though no specific DGFT circular was cited.
