Employer Can Deduct Own Provident Fund Share and Deposit into EPFO Account, Confirms Inquiry on Government Contract Work An individual inquired whether an employer can deduct their own share of Provident Fund (PF) and deposit it into the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) account. The scenario involves a proprietor, Mr. A, who has a government contract for vehicle hire, where only fuel and driver wages, including PF and ESIC, are reimbursed. The question was whether Mr. A could work as a driver under this contract, receive wages, and deduct his own PF contribution. The response confirmed that this is permissible. (AI Summary)
