SEZ jurisdictional treatment limits buyers' credit eligibility, with alternative financial facilities and ministry representation advised. A query asked why buyers credit is not available for imports from Special Economic Zones when DTA sales are treated as exports, DTA importers pay customs duty, and foreign exchange is involved. The reply explained that as a policy to boost exports SEZs are treated as outside Indian jurisdiction, which affects eligibility for certain credit facilities; alternative financial facilities exist and the issue may be pursued by formal representation to the Commerce and Finance Ministries.
