Lucky draw winning taxes regardings

Taxability of prize winnings: debate whether GST applies to lucky-draw car prizes, with views split on lottery service.
Whether a lucky draw prize attracts indirect tax is contested: one position says the winner need not pay Goods and Services Tax because winning is not a supply of service and any GST would be borne by the manufacturer; an alternative position treats the event as a lottery service, making the prize taxable. (AI Summary)

Sir.. yesterday I won a lucky draw in a shopping mall. The prize is a car worth amounting ₹ 7.4 Lakhs.

I would like to know.. what are the taxes.. I will have to pay? (To get the prize)

Regards

Subrata

1.

Sir/Madam,

GST would have been paid by the car manufacturer. Winning a price in sales promotion event cannot be considered as supply of service. Therefore, in my opinion there is no question of paying gst on the car by the winner.
