amendment in gst registration

Saurabh Singh

I have registered as a composition dealer for manufacturing activity. Now i want to start trading activities also.

Can I carry on the trading activity under same GSTIN as there is no option available to add the business activity filed.

If not, please advice whether I should start the trading activities under same gst no or should apply for another registration no.

Composition scheme: trading may be added to existing registration after intimation and required form filing, subject to turnover threshold. A composition dealer may add trading activities under the same GSTIN after notifying the department (via portal or letter) and filing Form GST-REG-04; the change must comply with composition scheme conditions, including that the composition option is exercisable at the start of the financial year and is subject to the scheme's turnover threshold. You can start your activity with same GSTIN after intimating the department on portal / or by a letter ( since portal is not fully functional). But you should take care of the conditions of the composition scheme.

In addition to above, Form GST-REG-04 is required to filled in on Common Portal. Rule 9(2).

I endorse the views of Shri Ramesh.

No need to obtain new GST registration number. You may continue with the same number. Only requirement is that the same can be exercised at the beginning of the financial year. Also the turnover should be below 75 lacs.

Appreciate the views of Kalyaniji.
