classification

kshitija narawane

Hi all

my dealer is dealing with different kirana goods , retailer basically

at the time of registration under GST , how to mentioned all the commodity

GST registration commodity classification: list major items or top products; consider composition scheme and identify HSN for goods. GST registration for kirana retailers can list principal or top items rather than every commodity; advisers suggested mentioning major commodities or the top five products. The composition scheme was proposed as an option for small taxpayers, with payment from the dealer, no input tax credit, and quarterly returns. Accurate classification requires identifying the correct HSN for each product by consulting the central and state schedules listing taxable commodities and rates. (AI Summary)

KASTURI SETHI on Jul 13, 2017

Mention major commodities only and if convenient opt for Composition Scheme for turnover up to ₹ 75 Lakhs per year and pay GST @ 1 % from your pocket. Not to recover amount of 1 % from customers. No credit is to be taken. You will file quarterly return.

His query is not for opting composition scheme. He asks for the classification details. What is meant by kirana goods. Whether they are groceries? What are the goods you are dealing. In respect of goods the Central Government and State Governments provide six schedules at various rates of tax containing nearly 1500 commodities.

I agree with Sri Kasturi Sir. The querist can mentioned top 5 items in the GST enrolment form.

Sri Mariappan Sir, yes entire business is engrossed in the task of identifying the HSN of their products.
