Local Body Tax

Shiv Kumar

Dear All

Please confirm that the LOCAL BODY TAX (Mandi Tax) will cover under GST i.e Market Fees and Rural Development charges.

thanks

Market fee exclusion: GST does not apply to market fees, while mandi tax status appears abolished by some respondents. Whether Local Body Tax components such as market fees (including mandi tax) and rural development charges fall within GST is the issue; administrative guidance indicates market fees are excluded from GST and thus unaffected, while a respondent reports mandi tax abolition but provides no confirmed authority; rural development charges are not addressed. As per FAQ released by CBEC, GST does not concern market fee so GST does not affect it.
