Form 24Q-TDS return through RPU version of NSDL

Hello

i was filing tds return for last qtr of f.y.2016-17 through RPU version 1.9 of NSDL.

but while filing 24Q its asking employee reference number which can not be left blank.after contacting NSDL they are saying its a 9 digit alfa-numeric number. after filling such alfanumeric 9 digit number its showing the error as invalid employee reference number. Form 27A is not generating because of this error.

Please guide what reference number to be mentioned as we have never provided such number to any employees & in previous Form 16, employee number was kept blank only.

You should allot employee reference number for all employees and incorporate in the field in the system. There may already be employee reference number. When you put a number it shows as invalid employee reference number. Kindly consult your employer or other officers in this regard.

as we have never provide such numbers there is no any employee reference number exists in our record.

but if we are providing it for the first time what should be the procedure dont' know.
