Can a Company Claim CENVAT Credit on Contractor's Bill of Entry for Imported Materials Lacking Company's Name? A company inquires about claiming CENVAT credit on a Bill of Entry for materials imported by a contractor for a water treatment plant setup. The contractor issues a letter, but the company's name is absent from the Bill of Entry. One response clarifies that credit cannot be availed based on the contractor's invoice, as CVD and SAD merge with the cost of goods if the contractor is ineligible for credit. Another response notes that ownership is not a criterion for CENVAT credit. The issue was previously discussed in February 2017 on the forum. (AI Summary)
