Dear All

Eligibility for CENVAT Credit on Design and Drawing Charges in Central Excise Clarified Under Legal Precedent A query was raised regarding the eligibility to take CENVAT credit on the drawing value added to the assessable value in central excise. Respondents highlighted that if service tax is paid on such drawings, it can be availed as credit if used in manufacturing dutiable products. Design charges are includible only if related to the assessed goods, referencing a legal precedent. It was agreed that duty paid on design and drawing, considered goods, is eligible for CENVAT credit. The discussion was acknowledged as informative by participants. (AI Summary)
