Guidance on Exporting Almond Butter to Bhutan: Excise Duty, Trade Agreements, and Policy Insights Under Notification No. 45/2001-C.E. An individual inquired about the procedure for exporting excisable food products to Bhutan, specifically whether it falls under free trade and if excise duty must be paid. Experts advised referring to Notification No. 45/2001-C.E. for exports under bond and highlighted two trade agreements: the South Asian Free Trade Area and SAARC Preferential Trading Arrangement. The item in question, almond butter, is classified under ITC-HS Code 20081990 and is freely exportable. Additional guidance was provided on export policies, Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS), interest equalization, and duty drawbacks. The discussion was praised for its thoroughness. There are two agreements between India and Bhutan which are mentioned below for your kind information

  1. South Asian Free Trade Area Preferential Tariff
  2. SAARC Preferential Trading Arrangement Preferential Tariff

If you could tell us the Tariff Heading of the item which you want to export then we will tell the benefits under these Free trade agreements.
