Availment of Service Tax credit in respect of CSR activities

Guest

Dear Sir,

Please advise on the following, we are incuring some expenses on account of CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) activities on which it has to pay Service tax for some of the services provided.

Can we take Credit of the Service tax paid ,thanks and regards.

Debate on Eligibility of Service Tax Credit for CSR Activities and National Holiday Advertisements under Companies Act A discussion on a forum addressed whether service tax credit can be availed for expenses incurred on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Opinions varied: one participant stated that CSR activities are statutory obligations under the Companies Act and do not qualify for credit, while another suggested that service tax credit is eligible. Further, it was mentioned that CSR activities do not relate to manufacturing and are voluntary, thus not qualifying for credit. Additionally, a query about taking credit for advertisements on national holidays was raised, with responses indicating ineligibility for such credits. (AI Summary)
