sachin shilamkar

We are importer of essential oil and registered with excise as dealer. Our annual turnover is 50 Cr from trading business. Now we want to get into manufacturing so we want to know can we avail the excise exemption of ₹ 1.50 Cr given to manufacturer who are SSI Units (Our investment in machinery is less than 1 Cr ).

Importer Eligible for 1.5 Crore Excise Exemption for Small Scale Industries; Trading Turnover Not Considered An importer of essential oil, registered as an excise dealer with an annual turnover of 50 crore from trading, inquired about eligibility for the 1.5 crore excise exemption for manufacturers classified as Small Scale Industries (SSI) with machinery investment under 1 crore. A respondent confirmed eligibility, clarifying that the trading turnover is not considered in the manufacturing exemption limit. Two additional participants agreed with this assessment, supporting the eligibility for the excise exemption under the specified conditions. (AI Summary)

yes,

you are eligible for getting the exemption of 1.50cr as a manufacturer .Trading is the different activity . Turn over of the trading activity is not considering in your manufacturing exemption limit.
