Advice on Handling Common Show Cause Notices for Different Units: Request a Single Adjudicating Authority via DGCEI or CBEC. An individual sought advice on handling a situation involving different units under separate commissionerates receiving a common show cause notice (SCN) from Central Excise authorities. They were required to respond to two adjudicating authorities. Experts suggested requesting a common adjudicating authority by representing to the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence (DGCEI) or the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), referencing specific circulars for guidance. The advice was acknowledged with gratitude, and another participant noted the difficulty of complying with two authorities for the same issue. (AI Summary)
