Claiming 80C deduction: allowed during e filing despite absence in Form 16; retain and submit proofs for verification.
Taxpayers may claim 80C deductions during e filing even if their employer's Form 16 omits the investment; such claims form part of the self assessed return and should be supported by documentary proof. It is advisable to submit supporting receipts with the acknowledged return to the tax processing center. Verification of the claimed deduction is conducted by the tax authority using the taxpayer's PAN and submitted documents. (AI Summary)

Hi All, I invested some amount of my income to PPF. It will come under 80C which is non taxble. But i didnt upload the info in my company so it is not avalable in form 16. SO while efiling can i add investment amount in 80C column?

It is better to send to Bangalore Office while you send the acknowledged copy of submited return.
