Maximum time available for exporters after filing S/B

Kishan Barai

As per FTP

1.29 Prior filing facility for Shipping Bills

To facilitate processing of shipping bills before actual shipment, prior online filing facility for shipping bills has been provided by the Customs - 7 days for air shipments & ICDs and 14 days for shipments by sea.

Suppose If I file S/B on 24/5/16 then what max amount of time I have for exports ?

& what penalty, do I need to pay if I don't export ??

Thanks in Advance

Shipping Bill Validity: 15 Days Post-Filing; Advance Noting for Import: File Bill of Entry 30 Days Before Arrival. An individual inquired about the maximum time available for exporters after filing a shipping bill (S/B) and potential penalties for not exporting. A respondent clarified that the validity of a shipping bill in the EDI system is fifteen days, after which a new declaration is required. No penalties are generally imposed on exporters for not exporting within this period. The individual also asked about import procedures, specifically the time limit for a bill of entry (B/E). The respondent explained that a bill of entry can be filed 30 days in advance of goods' arrival, known as advance noting. (AI Summary)

The validity of the shipping bill in EDI System is fifteen days only. After expiry of fifteen days from the date of filing of shipping bill, the exporter has to file the declaration afresh.

If you file shipping bill on 24/5/16, the shipping bill is valid till 07/06/2016

Generally, there should not be any penalty on exporter

Thanks a lot sir,

Now what would be the case in case of Import ??

Suppose I filed B/E on a particular date and cargo is delayed for 15 days ??

According to me the time limit for B/E is 30 days, but I am not too sure about it.

Please Enlighten. Thanks sir
