Excise returns consolidate transaction and duty particulars for reporting, including clearances, exports, exemptions and cenvat abstracts for compliance.
Excise Returns (ER1, ER2, ER3) are used to consolidate opening balances, quantities manufactured, clearances on payment of duty, clearances under bond or LUT, exports on payment, stock transfers, exemptions claimed, duty paid and abstracts of CENVAT and PLA; these particulars must be entered in the respective columns of the applicable monthly or quarterly return to report duty liability and credit positions. Dear Friend,

I understand that there are 3 Excise Returns. They are

ER1 (Monthly ) ER2 (monthly for EOUs) and ER3 (Quarterly - for Dealers and SSI)

The purpose of the above returns is to consolidate the details of transactions of monthly/quarterly such as

Opening balance, Qty manufactured, quantity cleared on payment of duty or exported on paymen tof duty or under Bond/LUT, in case of any exemption availed Notification NO. date etc., Stock transfers if, any, amount of duty paid etc., together with the details of cenvat and PLA abstracts.

The above details are to be entered in the respective columns of the return.

Hope it is clear.

Best Regards
