Manufacturers Can Use Computerized Challans for Non-Excisable Materials; Electronic Record Maintenance Permitted, Proper Accounting Emphasized -Invoicing A manufacturer inquired about using computerized challans for moving non-excisable materials, which are not subject to Cenvat credit, between factories or for external welding. Currently, pre-printed challan books are used. The responses confirmed that there are no restrictions on using computerized forms for non-excisable materials, as the department does not regulate them. It was noted that electronic record maintenance is permitted, and computerized invoices can be used, containing all necessary details. Multiple contributors agreed on the feasibility of this approach, emphasizing proper accounting of non-excisable materials. (AI Summary)
