Sale of used commercial vehciels

Vasim Patel

I am a dealer in used commercial vehicle, My query is, is there any VAT applicable for sale of used commercial vehicles and if yes then what percentage of VAT is applicable in the state of Maharashtra. And whether the VAT is applicable on the sale price of the vehicle or the difference between the sale and purchase price.

I also want to know if the VAT is applicable if he transfer the vehicle in his name and sells it or he does not transfer the vehicle in his name and sells it

VAT on Used Commercial Vehicles: 12.5% Rate on Selling Price per MVAT Act, Clarification Sought for Cement Dealers A dealer in used commercial vehicles inquired about the applicability of VAT on such sales in Maharashtra, specifically whether VAT applies to the sale price or the profit margin. A respondent clarified that VAT is applicable on the selling price at a rate of 12.5% as per the MVAT Act. Another participant sought clarification on VAT applicability for a cement dealer in Karnataka selling a used vehicle, particularly if VAT credit was not availed during purchase. (AI Summary)
