Claim hra while submitting it returns

Jaydeep Choudhari

Hello Folks,

I have a question regarding, how to avail HRA against rent paid during financial year.

Here is a problem, I am a salaried person & had my Income Tax declaration done at the beginning of the financial year. I had declared house rent of 96000 to my company and throughout the year tax was deducted based on the calculation.

We were told to submit proofs of all the investment by the end of January. While submitting proofs I forgot to add Rent Agreement. Because of which my company has considered minimum rent amount that is 36000 and deducted TDS. Is there any way I can claim full rent paid while filling ITR.

If anyone here know request you to provide procedure for the same, link, explaining how to do it would do.

Thanks, Jaydeep

Salaried Individual Seeks Advice on Claiming Full House Rent Allowance in ITR Due to TDS Deduction Discrepancy A salaried individual inquired about claiming House Rent Allowance (HRA) for rent paid during the financial year. They initially declared a rent amount of 96,000 INR to their employer, but due to not submitting the rent agreement, only 36,000 INR was considered, affecting their TDS deductions. They sought advice on claiming the full rent amount while filing their Income Tax Return (ITR). A respondent advised that they could either request their HR department to make adjustments before the end of March or claim the full amount while filing the ITR. (AI Summary)
