mode of payment of excise duty.

Anil Jangid

Dear expert

what is mode of payment of central excise duty,is it payment only through on line or old method through cheque TR-6 challan.what is the last date of payment of excise duty is it 5th or 6th.?what is the rate of interest for late payment?

Mode of payment of excise duty: online payment required; technical issues should be referred to supervisory officials and guidance consulted. Mode of payment of central excise duty: online payment is required; cheques and TR 6 challans are not the operative method. Taxpayers facing problems with electronic payment should refer to the Range Superintendent. Late payment attracts interest at the statutory rate and taxpayers should consult CBEC guidance and the Event Calendar for due dates and updates. (AI Summary)

Duty shall be paid through on line only. If you have any problem in making payment you have to refer to the Range Superintendent in this regard.
