Refund Received

Guest

Dear Sir,

Can Individual Income tax revised after refund is received.

Revision of income tax return after refund may be ineffective and can invite departmental notice; inform your ward officer. Revision of an individual income tax return after a refund is generally not permitted because refund or demand is determined at assessment; system acceptance of an uploaded revised return does not guarantee procedural validity and may invite departmental notices. Taxpayers with genuine omissions (such as missed TDS) should notify their ward officer, supply original and revised returns with reasons, and expect possible scrutiny, while recognizing that nominal adjustments may be allowed but could still be queried during assessment. Refund or demand is determined by department only after assessment. therefore you cannot revised the return. but if any substantial error encrypted then it should be intimated ti department. this is my view.

Guest on Dec 1, 2015

Dear Sir,

But When Uploaded revised return its accepted.

DR.MARIAPPAN GOVINDARAJAN on Dec 1, 2015

Whether the revised return is completed? If it is so it is a new experience.

Guest on Dec 1, 2015

Dear Sir,

Its uploaded successfully and got an acknowledgement number as well.

Ganeshan Kalyani on Dec 2, 2015
It is a system that may have accepted the return. but this may invite notice from department as refund is received and even after that revised return is filed.
Guest on Dec 3, 2015

That may be right, but even though its not accepted by IT dept when will I get to know that approx time.

DR.MARIAPPAN GOVINDARAJAN on Dec 3, 2015

Please inform whether the revised return requires to pay income tax additionally.

Guest on Dec 3, 2015

Dear Sir,

I had missed one TDS credit to be taken so when I reivsed there is more refund to be received from Income tax.

DR.MARIAPPAN GOVINDARAJAN on Dec 3, 2015

Please inform the outcome of this course of action.

Ganeshan Kalyani on Dec 3, 2015

I feel a letter should be addressed to your ward Officer along with original and revised return and stating the reason for revised return. This may support you during assessment. If the amount is nominal then department may not bother much and pass the credit and issue refund.
