CAN WE DEDUCT TDS ON TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDER

DEEPAK GAGRANI

DEAR EXPERTS

I want to know can we deduct tds on telephone service provider, my confusion is we are deducting tds on bill of internet service ( vendor is charging service tax on bill ) & same time telephone service provider also charging service tax but we are not deducting tds so, shall we deduct tds on telephone service provider bill..

TDS Applicable on Both Telephone and Internet Services Under Finance Act 2012, Section 194J A participant in a discussion forum inquired about the applicability of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on telephone service provider bills, noting that TDS is already being deducted on internet service bills where service tax is charged. An expert responded, suggesting that TDS should be deducted for both telephone and internet services. The participant requested clarification on the legal basis for this, to which the expert referred to the Finance Act 2012, specifically section 194J, as the relevant legal provision. (AI Summary)
