Manufacturing Company Seeks Clarity on Service Tax Registration; Reverse Charge Applies If Job Work Isn't Manufacturing A manufacturing company engaged in job work is inquiring about the necessity of service tax registration. The consensus among the forum participants is that if the job work does not qualify as manufacturing, the company must register for service tax and comply under reverse charge. If the job work qualifies as manufacturing, the existing Central Excise registration suffices. The discussion includes acknowledgments of the clarity and precision of the responses provided.
