NGO formation options: choose trust, society or company; register locally and apply for tax exemption certifications.
An NGO may be constituted as a trust, society, or company, requiring respectively a trust deed, bylaws, or memorandum/articles, and must be registered with the local charity/registrar authority; thereafter the organisation can apply to the income tax exemption branch for charitable tax exemption certifications by submitting the prescribed registration documents. (AI Summary)

What is the process and procedure to form a NGO for Social work and get NGO registered with Local Registrar office.

Hi Pradeep,

Ngo can be formed in three different styles :

1) Trust

2) Society

3) Company u/s 9

Please clarify which type of ngo you need to form and in which state.

You need to draft a trust deed in case of trust, by laws in case of society and Moa in case of company and need to register with the local charity commissioner of your area.

Then you can apply for 12AA of Income tax Act,1961 and 80G with Comissioner of Income tax ( Exemptions ) of your area.

In case of any Help do let me know.
