Dear Experts

As per new foreign trade policy guidlines ourTariff item has been changed for taken MEIS Scheme benefit but in our excise return we are showing different tariff item. Now, Whether we can change our tariff item in our excise return according to MEIS Scheme. What will be the consequences if we change our tariff item in our excise return. Please advice.

Changing Tariff Heading just for the sake of getting/availing Export Promotion benefit without changing the constituents of the finished goods may be lethal. Please make a representation to the DGFT and Central Excise Commissioner in this regard and get the clarification before taking any decision to change the tariff heading on your own.
