No TDS Required on Employee Rewards for Children's Academic Achievements, Clarifies Query on Tax Liability. A company, as per an agreement with a union, rewards employees' children who achieve a specified academic percentage. These rewards are distributed on the company's annual day, sometimes via cheques made out to either the children or the employees. A query was raised regarding whether these rewards attract Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) liability for the employees. The response given suggests that, in this view, TDS is not required on these rewards. (AI Summary)
