Reverse Charge Mechanism: Service Tax Must Be Paid in Cash or Cheque Before Claiming Input Credit An individual inquired about the payment method for service tax under the reverse charge mechanism, specifically whether full payment must be made by cheque or cash, or if input service credit can be utilized. An expert responded that service tax under this mechanism must be paid in cash or cheque, and only afterward can input credit be availed. However, input credit cannot be used to make the initial service tax payment under the reverse charge mechanism. The individual thanked the expert for the guidance. (AI Summary)
