GST MODULE IN INDIA

JAGANATHAN KUMARAVEL

REQUEST THE EXPERTS TO COMMENT ON THE PROPOSED GST MODULE IN INDIA. INITIALLY IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE GST WILL BE DESTINATION BASED , BUT STATES WHICH WERE MAJOR PRODUCERS HAD OBJECTED THE SAME.

PLEASE CLARIFY THE PRESENT STAND ON GST AND WHEN WILL GOI RELEASE THE NEW DOCUMENT ON THE BASIS OF GST IN INDIA.

GST Bill Progress: Awaiting Rajya Sabha Approval and Presidential Consent to Address Destination-Based Tax Concerns A discussion on the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) module in India highlights concerns regarding its destination-based nature, which faced objections from major producer states. An inquiry seeks clarification on the current status and release of new GST documentation by the government. The response indicates that the Constitution (Amendment) Bill related to GST has been introduced in the Lok Sabha but awaits passage in the Rajya Sabha and presidential consent. Only after these steps will the GST Bill be introduced, potentially addressing the raised concerns. (AI Summary)

Dear Sir,

The Constitution (Amendment) bill was introduced in Lok Sabha and yet to be passed in Rajya Sabha and also to get the consent of the President. After that only GST Bill will be introduced and the doubt of yours will be cleared only after this event.
