Manufacturing Firm Queries Excise Registration for Ice Gel Packs as Turnover Exceeds INR 1.5 Crore; Considers SSI Exemption A manufacturing company producing Ice Gel Packs, used in vaccine transportation, inquired about the necessity of registering under the Excise Department if their turnover exceeds INR 1.5 crore. Currently paying CST and VAT, they seek future guidance on excise registration. A respondent advised that even before reaching the threshold, the company could apply for Central Excise Registration to pay duty on finished goods and benefit from CENVAT credit. They also mentioned that availing exemption as a Small Scale Industry (SSI) unit is an option. (AI Summary)
