change of commissionerate

raj nadh
Dear Experts, what is the effect on a assessee if commissionerate/division/range changed. Also share the necessary change to be made by an assessee.Anand
Change of jurisdiction alters commissionerate codes and triggers notifications, requiring corrigenda for pending adjudications and procedural adjustments. Change of jurisdiction from restructuring results chiefly in reassignment of assessees to new commissionerate/division/range codes communicated by Trade Facility notices; departmental systems will reflect the change. For pending adjudication or show-cause notices, corrigenda or specific communications should identify the new jurisdictional officer, requiring assessees to approach the newly notified authority while substantive liabilities and procedures remain largely unchanged. Sir,

Trade Facility (previously called as 'Trade Notices') will be issued by Chief Commissioner/ Commissioners concerned giving details of changes effected due cadre restructuring. You act accordingly.

PAWAN KUMAR on Oct 17, 2014

Dear Sir,

For the purpose of change in jurisdiction of commissionerate, Changes shall be done in the system by the Authorities which will automatically shown to you however if there is any pending adjudication/SCN/other notices, corrigendum shall be provided to each assessees for approaching the new jurisdictional officers with regard to pending adjudication/SCN/other notices, as per my view.

Mahir S on Oct 17, 2014

Sir,

In simple words, there shall not be any major changes for assessee except for change of Code Number of their Commisionerate/Division/Range; all other things mostly remaining the same.

The changes in the jurisdiction has been made so as to decrease the number of assessees in each range/division and also due to cadre restructuring of Officers in the department.

The changes done shall get regularized very soon and assessees should not get confused with it.

Rakesh Chitkara on Oct 18, 2014

More Commissionerates means more officers chasing the assessees. Musical chairs to start - Commissioners will grab the rooms of Additional / Joint Commissioners and the chain reaction down the line. Smaller rooms and cabins to all as number of buildings remain the same despite large scale promotions. First come first sit. DCs will ask for the same 'gifts' that you earlier gave to UDCs. All in the name of Trade Facilitation to small taxpayer in a non-adversarial tax regime !

Tom and Jerry in fast forward. Best of luck.
