Mumbai Trading Company Can Export Without Excise Registration Using B-1 Bond; Must Comply with Export Formalities A trading company in Mumbai seeks advice on exporting excisable materials without central excise registration. They have VAT registration and an IEC code but need guidance on exporting directly from the port. Experts suggest that as a merchant exporter, they can proceed without excise registration by executing a B-1 Bond with the excise department, allowing them to issue CT-1 for procurement. It is noted that excise registration is not mandatory for such exports, and the export invoice should reference the Bill of Entry. Compliance with export formalities is necessary for customs clearance. (AI Summary)
