Delhi VAT - Logo on Tax Invoice or Retail Invoice

Ganeshan Kalyani

Dear Sir,

As per Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, the logo differentiating the packaged food product into veg or non-veg is indicated by a color logo green as veg and brown as non-veg. Is there any such provision in Delhi Value Added Tax Act and Rules. Is there any requirement similar to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India that the Tax Invoice issued to customer should bore the logo to differentiate the product into veg or non-veg. As i understand with reference to sec 50 of DVAT Act 2004 the provision doesnot talk about any requirement as regard logo.

regards,

ganesh

DVAT Act does not require vegetarian or non-vegetarian logos on tax invoices; applies only to packaging. A query was raised regarding whether the Delhi Value Added Tax (DVAT) Act requires tax invoices to display logos indicating whether a product is vegetarian or non-vegetarian, similar to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India's regulations for packaging. The response clarified that the DVAT Act and its rules do not mandate such logos on tax invoices. The requirement to display vegetarian or non-vegetarian logos applies only to the packaging of edible goods based on their ingredients, not on the invoices issued under the DVAT Act. (AI Summary)
