Generally, Excise Returns are required to be filed online by the 10th of every month. Excise duty is required to be deposited online by the 8:00 p.m. by 6th of every month.

As per Rule 8 of the central excise rules, 2002 the duty on the goods removed from the factory or warehouse shall be paid on the following dates:
1. By the 6th day of the following for each month (except for the month of March) - for all assesses excluding SSI units who are availing SSI exemption.
2. By the 6th day of the following month from the end of quarter - for the units availing SSI exemption.
3. By 31st day of March for the month of March/Quarter ended March - for all assesses including SSI.
For the month of March/quarter ended in March, Service Tax and Excise Duty would be deposited by 31st March itself.
